Its a psychological thriller after alll! It was supposed to disturb you, to make you uncomfortable…and it succeeded i believe! And true she was hard to like, but you could feel her pain and tolerate with her…bcs the writing was superb as well.
Everyone I know who read it loved it. I tend to read thrillers these days more because everyone is talking about it than because I love thrillers. It isn’t my favorite genre. It was well written and it had a good premise. For those who love thrillers, most thought it was terrific.
I liked the book, but a little disappointed because I had it figured out a little ways in and I had thought it would keep me guessing until the end…so it’s a little overrated.
I read it as my daughter had and loved it so she made me read it. It was hard to get into but once your into it, it’s a good book. Lots of twist and turns.
^ I’m so glad about these comments, I read it recently and I was in two minds about it. It was gripping, I’ll give Paula Hawkins that, I wanted to read more to know what happened! But I wasn’t too overly keen on the whole thing. Left me feeling a little creeped out at the end too. At first I was sat reading it and thinking “if it turns out to be one of these characters I’m thinking of, I’m going to be disappointed!” it wasn’t, but I was still disappointed – but in a creeped out way at the end. Anyone else had that? I guess it’s because I used to know someone that reminded me of a character in it (trying hard here not to give away spoilers!) and some things they used to say! I bought the film on DVD though, to see what it’s like.
I quite liked it… but the film was terrible!! I read it just after I’d finished Gone Girl which was similar but I think I enjoyed more.
trully amazing book , and you should watch the movie too not better ofc but still worthed !
I saw the movie didn’t like it !! Will not read the book !!
I’m really struggling with it so it’s taking me ages to read. Going to keep going as I want to finish it. Really flatlining for me atm
Maybe its that darn train lol. Im struggling too…
Loved the book! The movie wasn’t bad, either. Not as good as the book, though.
Never read it
I liked it.
It started out well, but 3/4 of the way through felt like a completely different story.
How?
I enjoyed it overall but felt the mystery element was a bit undercooked
Fair movie but a book that was better marketed than it was written.
Rubbish.
Oh my gosh what a bag of sh*te sorry
It was pretty good
Book was amazing
It was Ok.
Meh.
Disturbing, fast paced and utterly addictive. I couldn’t put it down
I liked the book. The movie not so much. I’m not a Ben Affleck fan.
She’s talking about the Girl On The Train, not Gone Girl!
Ha ha! My bad. I read it wrong. ?
I liked it.
I’m with @Nicole. It wasn’t as good as they talked it up to be.
I liked it! I didn’t fall in love with the characters but still enjoyed the book and trying to figure out what was going on. It was different.
I want to see the movie. Can someone share to me, please?
Thanks, fellas
I didn’t care for the movie at all. I liked the book
It wasn’t as good as the novel.
Wow. Okay. I’d like you to share the eBook if you have. Thanks
Not as great as everyone said it was.
I detested it, and have yet to convince myself to read Paula Hawkins new novel, Into the Water.
Couldn’t get into it
It was OK…not great
I liked the drunk protagonist but sadly lost interest and DNF.
Hated it…forced myself to finish it
Could not get into it ? waste of money
Too much Hype
I couldn’t either. And there is sooo much hype.
I loved it and that’s why I won’t see the movie.
Could not keep reading, waste of time.
I would have liked the main character to have a little more redeeming qualities about her. She was really difficult to like
Loved the book. The movie not so much
Good but not overwhelmingly so. As potboilers go, Gone Girl is better.
Agreed! Definitely would say Gone Girl is better.
It was good but hard to get into.
I think it might be time for her to get off now….I hear a lot of hype still, but I can’t get into it.
I liked the book the movie was ok
It didn’t live up to the hype.
I really didn’t like it.
I loved it
Couldn’t put it down, it was awesome!
Walked away from it- didn’t care what happened.
EASY READING….
Did not like it
Despised this book. I just didn’t get it. I found it boring, very one dimensional, predictable, and full of clichés.
Good read
When I’m not sure about a book I look for the NY Times Best Seller list
So good!
I enjoyed reading it but found it very predictable
I liked it.
It was a hard read because *(possible spoiler)*
one of the narrators is a drunk and you get stuck in her mind.
*(End spoiler)*
That being said I thought the characterization was really good because of how it was written.
Its a psychological thriller after alll! It was supposed to disturb you, to make you uncomfortable…and it succeeded i believe! And true she was hard to like, but you could feel her pain and tolerate with her…bcs the writing was superb as well.
The book was like watching paint dry, the movie on the other hand was good.
I agree! Lol
I enjoyed it
I could not get into it, but I loved the movie. That is a first for me. ??
Overrated
Loved it!
Loved it
I really enjoyed the book.
I only finished it because I wanted to know for sure who did it.
Strange.
Definitely didn’t live up to the hype.
I didn’t care for it.
Needy, simple minded, annoying characters and lame story plot.
I loved it!
Everyone I know who read it loved it. I tend to read thrillers these days more because everyone is talking about it than because I love thrillers. It isn’t my favorite genre. It was well written and it had a good premise. For those who love thrillers, most thought it was terrific.
Loved it
Loved the book! Hated the movie ?
Couldn’t get into it.
I liked the book, but a little disappointed because I had it figured out a little ways in and I had thought it would keep me guessing until the end…so it’s a little overrated.
I liked it
I liked the book, haven’t seen the movie yet. I read her next book too, very disappointed. I didn’t like that one at all
I liked it
loved it
Book or movie? I honestly thought it was a rip off of Gone Girl. Though I did like the twist at the end of The Girl On The Train better though.
Love
A little tough to get into but give it at least 50 or 60 pages. Loved it after that.
Loved it
I could not get into at all. I ended up putting it down and never finishing.
I read it as my daughter had and loved it so she made me read it. It was hard to get into but once your into it, it’s a good book. Lots of twist and turns.
Meh
I loved it. I was fascinated by it. . .
Disliked it. Preferred her newer book and will read whatever she comes out with next because of how much better the newer novel was.
Nice quick read
I loved it !!
Loved it
Never made it passed chapter 6
Figured it out right away.
Hated the main female character.
Depressing thriller honestly but somehow a fun read!
Movie is better
I enjoyed it!
Didn’t like any of the characters.
Quick read. I enjoyed it. Missed the movie.
Liked it
My mom hated it.
I loved it!
I didn’t enjoy it
It was predictable.
Was good but predictable
Liked it
Liked it
Meh. Overrated.
It’s a gripping read which is odd because I found myself disliking every character in the book. Read it over two days

Just OK
It was just OK for me and when I watched the movie I didn’t recognize the book. So I can only imagine that my mind wandered when reading.
It was ok. I didn’t care for the characters either
Watched movie, liked it.
One of the best movie ! Haven’t read the book yet.

Me either @Tina
Book is much better than movie 🙂
Loved it
Read it already
It was good but not awesome.
I didn’t get at all.
It’s ok. Movie and book didn’t keep my interest.
Loved the book, but the film didn’t work for me. Moving it to a different country was never going to work!
it was ok… I liked the movie.
Meh.
. Could not finish. BIG YAWN!
Liked the book and the movie
It was okay
Hated it, will never read another book by this author.
Loved the book – thoroughly enjoyed it. Movie I fell asleep through. Her second novel was not to my liking at all though.
I liked it. It picks up 3/4 way into the book
I agree with Lia … However I had to finish it to see if I was right ?
Didn’t like the book…stopped reading it by chapter 2. Liked the movie.
The film was a bit of a let down … the end was rather lame … I’ve decided not to read the book ….
The book is kuch the same and the movie was just mehh ?
Nicola … so I’m not the only one …. xxxxx
Nope I kinda sat there all the way through thinking I’m wasting my time here x
Same here…. hate films that leave you with that .. wanting .. feeling …. xxx
Me too Xx
Wasn’t one that I enjoyed, i kept waiting for something to happen or evolve, but it didn’t happen
Loved it and the movie is good too. Also try The Girl in the Water by the same author
I meant Into the Water lol
Badly written and overhyped. A ludicrous “plot” .
Meh.
I liked it
???✋
I haven’t read it and truth be told doesn’t call my attention.
Know nothing about it. Going by the title, it could be a long train ride.
