Thank you for mentioning this one! I read the first one a long time ago when it came out and never went back to read the rest of them. I will definitely have to get my hands on the rest soon. I was sucked in quickly with the first one.

The Chronicles of St. Mary’s. Hysterically funny, tons of great info about historical events, time travel and romances. Great female protagonist, too. Also, The All Souls Trilogy. Much of the same elements as St. Mary’s, but in a completely different way, plus the supernatural is key to it.

0
Tika

@Mishayla Me too, both in my top 10 for sure ?

1
Mishayla

@Tika I have very fond memories of The Old Kingdom Trilogy. My sister (who doesn’t read as much as I do) read them first in middle school, and then we ended up buddy reading them together. It’s great when you don’t read a lot with someone you are close to, but you still have that one good trilogy that you could really connect over.
I also love Shade’s Children by Mr. Nix. I’ve read that one three times. 🙂

0
Tika

@Mishayla have to read the prequel and sequel that he has since released? I didn’t enjoy them as much however it was so nice to get more time in The Old Kingdom! Sabriel is one of my very favourite books.

0
Mishayla

@Tika We were actually talking about reading those together too, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Too busy with our adult lives. Someday though!

1
Christian

His Dark Materials trilogy is a great series. I love it! One of my all time favorites. In part it started my love for reading. I think it is loved by many.

1
Tika

@Christian I think because it was released around Harry Potter, it didn’t have quite to same impact as it would have had. I adore it and always recommend it ?

1
Christian

I agree. Me too. Have you read The Book of Dust? I read it a while ago. I really liked it. Can’t for the next.

1

@Christian yes I really enjoyed it. Malcolm is a likeable protagonist. Can’t wait for Volume 2, twenty year old Lyra ?

Forgotten Realms. I hang out with some series nerds, some even play D&D, and I’ve had to introduce each one to the book series. I don’t even play. When hubby and I were still just dating, he tries to introduce me to it when we discussed favorite books, and it’s part of how I knew he was a keeper.

R.A. Salvatore is amazing.
