IT by Stephen King more because of the individual characters and the focus on what its like being a kid vs an adult.

Years ago, Sphinx by Robin Cook was one that really had me enthralled. I have read lots of other good books since, and like the ones that have mystery, suspense and lots of twists and turns to keep me interested.

First, a decent story that makes my mind keep asking subconsciously, ‘and then what happened?’ Second, good writing that is smart, witty, charming, descriptive–all without getting in the way of the tale.
