I loved Buffy too, but it is not based on a book. The novels and comics both came as tie-ins to the TV series, because fans wanted more! ?
Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. I loved that in a modern text and dystopian setting, they weren’t romanticized, but rather remained the monsters – that you still found a way to love.
I love when authors put their own spin on vampires

The books that got me to love vampires are YA novels; The Last Vampire by Christopher Pike and The Night World Series by LJ Smith. Sita in the Last Vampire is such a badass and The Night World does really cool mythology on vampires
