Oh man.
I had to drop Nos4A2 because the poverty the main character felt was pretty close to home for a few years

mostly not the situation but like the emotional state of characters that are close to home always get to me, like the MC in Turtles all the way down, not perse her OCD but how she thinks of people and self esteem, maybe also the same with Mickey in the rest of us just live here, and I’m probably forgetting some but those stayed with me because I really could connect with their thought process

“A life,” by Italo Svevo, mostly because of the main character’s romanticism even though he is stuck in a dead-end job.

I had to stop reading Little Girl Gone because the MCs post natal depression was written so well that it genuinely drove me to a screaming crying flashback filled panic attack over how I was when I first had my son….but it was so well written that I really want to read it properly I’m just too chicken now ??‍♀️

Wild by Cheryl Strayed touched on a lot of the emotions I felt when my mother passed unexpectedly. And I completely understood her need to escape and be alone afterwards
