Uh… I guess I’m a crime fiction author now, so I can answer this. I read a *ton* of crime fiction between 14-35, but now mostly read other stuff, because reading crime fiction while writing it is a bit like trying to pat your head and rub your tum. When I do read crime fiction, it tends to be old, e.g. Maigret, Van der Valk, hardboiled pulp.
I noticed years ago, before I started taking my writing serioulsy, that I tend to split my reading time pretty evenly between fiction and non-fiction. Non-fiction is usually history, investment, business, gardening, psychology and, of course, writing. Fiction can be almost anything, including crime/mystery, thrillers, S-F, humour, classics. Recently been nibbling at the vast emporium left to us by PG Wodehouse. Hilarious.
Robert Stone, Alexander Trocchi, Denis Johnson, Georges Simenon, Richard Stark, Lawrence Osborne, Deborah Levy, Jane Bowles, Paul Bowles, Catherine Lacey, Thom Jones, etc., etc.

Crime fiction!
All crime fiction – unless it’s a specific book for background research (or cookery, or gardening!) 🙂
Science fiction, legal drama, sports . . . and crime.
Anything
True crime
Pretty much everything! On my bedside table right now are two murder investigation manuals, a book of poems, and two crime/thriller proofs!
Lots of anything! 😉
I read everything that catches my fancy in most genres. Or wish I had the time to read everything that catches my fancy.
Anything and everything.
Sci fi!
