I enjoyed it and was pleased with the winner. I actually enjoyed the whole series and I am hoping they will do this again. There are so many books to be discovered and discussed.
That was my take too. The final list had way more classics than I would have guessed. I honestly wondered if people voted for books like War & Peace because they thought they should.
I only voted once, and my favorite book won, so I thought it was pretty neat, but I also found it very interesting that 3 of the 5 finalists were fantasy/magical type books…..I imagine that says something about folks who read, but I just don’t know what!!!!
I was sad that my favorite author wasn’t included, Willa Cather but I loved how excited everyone was about books and their favorite books. Also loved seeing and hearing from some authors.
I loved it except for the weird segment on Pride and Prejudice where they had George Stephanopoulos wife comparing George to Darcy. Really? They couldn’t get an Austen expert on the show ever to discuss why this book still resonates after 200 years?
I think To Kill a Mockingbird deserved its number 1 place. The book had everything, it held up a mirror to who we were and still are. She got it right the first time.
Meh. Interesting, but I didn’t agree with many of the choices and or ratings. Added a few new titles to My List. As someone else noted, it was more of a popularity contest – supremely subjective.
Disappointed in the winner because there were other books ranked lower on the list I liked so much better. However everyone has a right to their votes/opinion.
To me, it was a sham. How can it be fair if multiple voters vote multiple times? I realize it would be impossible to restrict everyone to one vote, but that would be the only way to truly know which book really won. Still, it did result in a renewed interest in reading for many people.
I don’t think it should have been limited to 100 at the beginning. Maybe 1000 and then after a month cut it down to 100, the ones with X # of votes. That way they wouldn’t have left out so many wonderful classics and newer books we love.

I liked it and hope there is another one soon.
It was great. I hope they do another one next year.
Liked it, though the #1 book was not my choice.
Loved!
It was interesting to see the huge range of titles in the whole list. I need to print out the final list in order.

I can’t complain because my favorite book won.
I was happy that an American book won, given that it was the great *American* read. Lets do a British read, or great books in translation next.
The American was we the readers, not the author….

❤❤
Loved too see that enthusiasm still for reading! Gives me hope!
Loved it!!
I don’t know what won
@Cheryl the winner was the one you thought would not win at book club last night.
Really! I’m shocked. We should read it as a group and I can show you why it won!
@Cheryl Suggest it next meeting. I know Deana and I read it in high school. Dont know about everyone else.
Great!
What book won?
Loved it!
One of only two books I’ve read more than once ❤️
Didn’t see it.
so predictable
overrated book
Well I guess an awful lot of people don’t agree.
@Susan I see that. I like the book, just don’t think it’s the best ever, but it has clearly touched a lot of lives, so it deserves its win.
expected for the most part. still loved listening to the breakdown. very glad they had the program at all.
I loved it except for the weird segment on Pride and Prejudice where they had George Stephanopoulos wife comparing George to Darcy. Really? They couldn’t get an Austen expert on the show ever to discuss why this book still resonates after 200 years?
Should have ask Colin & Jennifer to do it!
@Laura yeah that was really awkward.
I thought the exact same thing!!
Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks? Yes/No?
For those of us that missed it, what book won?
@Diane To Kill a Mockingbird
@Laura thanks!
@Laura thank you!

I guess when the public can vote multiple times it can go anywhere
The only real surprise, for me, was that Atlas Shrugged got #20. That is truly scary to me that that many people thought that was a good book.
I loved it when I was 16 and read it before I grew a brain!
I really enjoyed it. I found the list of the books in order of their votes. Want to try to read them all.
I’m just glad that a really good book is the favorite of American readers. I’d have been embarrassed if some of the ones on the list had won.

Sure was a lot of hype & editing. yes.
I am still baffled that Fifty Shades was even on the list.
Blame it on the American public.
As has been pointed out innumerable times, this was not about quality or literary merit. It was about what the U.S. Reading public liked the most.
Couldnt get coverage
Disappointed in the winner because there were other books ranked lower on the list I liked so much better. However everyone has a right to their votes/opinion.
It was anticlimactic.

I guessed 4 of them. Pretty predictable.
It was intended to get people interested in reading, and for that reason alone was fabulous!
