He’s a brilliant author. Some of his books are a bit hit and miss, though.

What did you think of The Dark Tower series and how it ended ?

0
Krista

I’ve yet to read the series, though I have heard good things about it. Rose Madder is a pile of rubbish, though.

Lee

adam, I didn’t mind the main ending (you know what I mean) but the way that the main bad guys met their end was nothing short of pathetic

0
AdamQuestion author

@Lee People who like the ending say that ka is a wheel but still, all those books/pages for THAT ending ???

1
Lee

Some of the best stories ever written, but usually with the worst endings. Prepare to slog through 800 pages for a massive anticlimax on many of his books.

I feel that way about The Dark Tower series.
Excellent series. Awful ending.

2
Lee

The way the Crimson King ended…. supposedly the biggest villain in the universe… was just ridiculous. Although King lost me when he wrote himself into the plot.

0
AdamQuestion author

@Lee Yep. I felt that way about both parts too.
Still enjoyed the series though.

1
Lee

I think Under the Dome was another major disappointment….

I just cannot get into any books he’s written and I have zero clue as to why. I’ve tried and tried annnnd tried because so many people love them and the premise of some of the books are things that usually interest me in novels.

Genius, he’s so prolific & generally hits more than he misses. He’s also remained pretty consistent – some of his recent work has been among as good as his early classics.

I’m not a huge fan. I think a majority of his books could be shorter. He goes on and on about not much and he struggles to write good endings. Most of the books I’ve read by him were three star reads. They weren’t awful but I didn’t get the hype. That being said I still have a number of his books I want to get too.

Have you read The Dark Tower series ?
If not, I recommend it.
I thought the ending was anticlimactic but some King fans liked it.

0
Jenna

That series is one of the books I want to read. I’ve heard mixed things. Some people really liked the first book and hated the rest and others hated the first but loved the rest. I’ll still explore stephan King books. I really want to read Salems lot, pet cemetery and Christine.

Just finished his newest book. Too much of his political opinions…done reading any more Stephen King…just wanted a good book. Too many other great authors who don’t try and push their liberal garbage throughout a whole book!
