Pride and Prejudice. And I like War and Peace, but I think the best time to start it is winter. It puts you in the right mood.

I read Pride and Prejudice two decades ago. So maybe I’ve forgotten a bit. But based on whatever I can recall about the two, my vote definitely goes to War and Peace

If you’re going to read Tolstoy, I would suggest that you should begin with Anna Karenina. It’s just a bit easier than War & Peace, with only a few characters and not quite as long. And it’s much better than Pride & Prejudice.

IMHO, Marscha is prejudiced against P&P. And I can say that because she’s sitting in my backyard right now.

I haven’t read war and peace but Pride and Prejudice has a fun, lighthearted tone and was a quick read for me. So may be a good place to start!

War and Peace. If you can get passed the first 75 pages or so you’ll love it!

The one book I never finished was “War and Peace.” Of course, I was 14 when I tried to read it, which may have been the problem, ha! I will have to try it again one of these days . . . .

Depends on your mood. Do you want wit and romance and a happy end? Choose P&P. Do you want history, detailed descriptions and the depth of a human being? Choose War and Peace. Both are excellent in their own way, but you have to be in the right mood for their style and story.
