It is a bit depressing and some of her writing is weird, but it is beautifully written overall and worth reading – one of my favorite books!

I loved it. Don’t read if you’re feeling down or depressed, though. It can be very triggering.

Funny you should ask that :-D. I actually wrote a blog post a while back where I revisited this classic from my teens. It might contains some spoilers, though (I try not to put them in but sometimes they slip which is why I put my disclaimer on the post). https://thedreambook.wordpress.com/2017/07/16/revisiting-sylvia-plaths-the-bell-jar/

When I was a teen and didn’t understand that I had a mental illness, this was the book that helped me realize I wasn’t alone in the world.

Read it a ton of time, but I read so many books about mental illness that I have problems keeping them straight.

I recently read it for the first time. In my book, it was just an OK book. It was good, but it did not grab me and hold me hostage like I like a book to.

Is it good?

1

Not really! Too much info about plants and gardening. I am glad I finally finished it.

Loved it. It’s superb. Sylvia Plath is a genius. I’d really suggest getting a reading guide to help though, there’s a lot of nuance in it.

Great book. On my list of favorites. It’s intense though, but paints a picture of someone dealing with deep depression. If you only like books about rainbows, sunshine, and with happy endings, it’s not for you.

I admit I was a little confused when I read it. And I read it as an adult. I think I must’ve had too much on my mind at the time
