Hardcover for aesthetic purposes, but you can’t beat a perfectly floppy paperback.

Depends on what the author’s collection is already on my shelf. I have authors I collect only HBs for and authors I only collect paperbacks from. If it’s a book I’m not sure about paperback.

I tend to prefer paperback just for the ease in reading, a bit easier for me to hold. And they are usually cheaper. As long as it’s not the dinky mass produced ones, I can’t do those. I avoid, too small for my eyes and hands. But I do buy hardback, too.

Of these two choices, hardcover. Overall, ebooks. I have Cerebral Palsy, and have trouble holding hardcovers, especially when it’s a huge book. For example, The Century Trilogy and The Kingsbridge Series by Ken Follett.

Paperback because they’re cheaper. But I love the look of hardbacks and if I could afford it I’d buy all my books in hardback.

New age question: paper or kindle?

1
Reply
Jess

Whatever is available at the library an when purchase them from Ollies or yard sales. But I like paperback to take with me on the go and can read both will at home. As the new age I tried tablets but didn’t like because I like the feel of actually holding the psychical book. Audio books I can’t concentrate and keep the information straight.

I like the way hardbacks look on a shelf, but it’s easier to hold paperbacks for long periods of time. I prefer digital and audio books personally. I buy hardbacks if it’s a book I love and will eventually reread. If I buy a physical copy, it’s usually paperbacks.
