I don’t think you understand the YA category. It is not Juvenile, which does use a simpler language. YA is is for teens, . . . High School and College. The Classics are YA.
Shannon Lanier…hooray! My youngest granddaughter became burned out on reading after the hell of earning A/R points in elementary school. We got her back to reading with…oh,geez…comic books. Like you said…just read something?. She is back to reading above her level now, thankfully??
??I’m a sixty-three year old grandmother…and I read YA! Some of the best books I’ve read are YA. Besides…it gives me something in common with my grands. My little old lady views and their teenage views make for interesting discussions.
If it is something you enjoy what is the point of depriving yourself of the enjoyment because we think it is not for us due to age I mean I am 25 and I still read YA and Middle Grade
The only YA issue I come across is the mushy teen love stories, I avoid those like the plague. There are some great fantasy, sci-fi dystopian, etc tales.
I started reading YA when I worked with the students for Battle of the Books for the high school where I taught Spanish and French. It helped us have a commonality as we discussed the books. Plus they are usually well-written. Hunger Games was YA. I love almost all genres and varieties

Don’t think so
definitely not
I like reading them. I found them to be good beginner books
I am 35…so definitely not ?
Good for people who are ESL beginners.

No…I am 44 and read ya, read what you want x
Thank god they’re not. I would be missing a lot of good reads!
Nope, I’ve even read some middle grade (as an adult) and enjoyed them. ☺️
No, in fact some of the best storytelling today is being done in YA. ?
No. Some of the best pieces of literature were intended for a YA audience. For example C.S. Lewis’s Naria Chronicles, and Lowis Lowry’s The Giver.
No, I’m 25 and still enjoy them 🙂
Definately not. Love em????
Nope. If Carrie by Stephen King was released now, it would probably be published as YA horror.
Also, think about all the movies you watch that are set at 12 or 15. They’re still enjoyed by adults.
Unless the book police have been created that prevent people from reading ‘out of their age group’ then no. People can read whatever they like
No. I have met some very good books from YA.
No they’re for anyone who likes them ?
42 and I love them
32 and I love reading them and I write them as well.
I read very little YA as an adult if any at all, but imo, books are books. Idc what anybody reads as long as they’re reading.

I’m 50 something and I love them too, I don’t really care what genre a book is, as long as the the story is good.

Nope, there was a survey in about 2015 , that says 70% of adults read YA
Nope
not all “YA”s enjoy them, and “adult” books aren’t just for “adults”.
Nope…not at all
No I read them all the time
YA is a perspective, not a reading level ?.
The age suggestions are more like guidelines anyway.

I always thought that YA meant that the books were about young adults. Not that the only people that could read them were young adults.
Young Adult refers to the age of the characters in the books.
