I listen to music, usually something soft and relaxing, nibble on an assortment of fattening snacks, sip coffee and flick my bookmark across my leg, much to everyone’s annoyance.?

Lay down preferably?. I like a bit of classical music on quietly in the background sometimes. Can’t eat snacks as I have to put the book down, demolish them all then start reading again?.

When I first started to read game of thrones after the second series was in TV, I quite enjoyed reading the book whilst listening to the sound track. I’m hardcore like that see ?

On the weekends, I like to wake up, make coffee and then drink it while I read. My partner usually sleeps in so I get pure silence for at least 2 hours

Garden, I could finish half a book putzing around in the yard. Chore’ing in general is more tolerable with an audiobook. If it’s nice, a hike, a snack on a log in the woods and going back down the trail on someone’s back. ? I’m joshin. I cant listen to the book going back down because I’m fantasizing about being carried down.

1

@Tara And they call it escapism!

0
Tara

@Ben the cold and snow here is actually good for getting into the atmosphere of the 2 books I am currently reading ? both are taking place in the freezing cold and snow! The Wolf in the Whale and Assassin’s Quest.

1
Ben

Snow does wonderful things for my imagination, but we hardly ever get any.

0
Tara

@Ben trade places with ya?? Haha or let’s place swap for a few months a year? Preferably for the months from Jan to April… You get snow, I get no snow and the ability to go to rugby league games! ?

1
Tara

I usually try to read while my rat is out of his cage playing and stretching his legs. Otherwise bus time is read time. And sometimes in bed before sleeping if I am not passing out.

I can’t really do anything else unless it’s an audio book, but I have enjoyed being so deep into a novel that I’ve not realised it’s gone dark until I can no longer read the words well enough to stay lost.

I used to enjoy having a snack and a drink, but had to give that up when I discovered that yes – I could be ‘gone’ enough to drink a whole bottle of wine and not realise until I stood up… and yes, be ‘gone’ enough to eat an entire bar of chocolate and not realise until I felt sick. Neither seemed like a good thing to continue doing, so if I have food and drink, I only put the glass and the bit I can eat within reach, instead of the whole lot.

If it’s an audio book, I like sewing or embroidery, I can also do traces of Celtic knotwork. I have an exercise routine I can do while listening, but I ‘switched up’ recently and now just focus on not passing out while doing it.
