I suppose it doesn’t much matter. To me, a good book is a good book, however it’s classified.

My 11 year old and I just finished The Children of the New Forest. We both loved the story. It is historical fiction. Apparently the BBC has made a series (mini?) out of it.

My favorite book in high school was This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen and I still like to reread it every once in awhile. And I love all of John Green’s books but haven’t read his newest.

Colleen Hoover has some I think would be considered Y.A and they are so good!!! Try November 9 or Confess. Or one that is much more steamy in the bedroom is Ugly Love. They are really great reads!

I love Percy jackson

1
Gemma

@Sean did you read all ten or jist the first five?

0
Sean

All 10 of them plus the two short story mini books they released

0
Gemma

@Sean i am halfway through the mark of athena. Finding the second lot of five harder to get through but absolutely love the first five.

0
Sean

First 5 were better in my opinion with the exception of 2nd book. I think the second series needed a little bit of something more also didn’t have the same feel

0
Gemma

@Sean yeah. Chaninging it to third person and introducing so many new characters was part of the problem. I feel the quests are bogged down with too many hurdles to get over that are just there to beef out the book rather than for a legitimate story moment. The first five are perfection.

1
Sean

The concept was interesting the mix of Greek and Roman parts but in execution didn’t work as well as i was hoping

Tell Me Three Things, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, One of Us Is Lying, Turtles All the Way Down, Eleanor & Park, We Were Liars, and Every Day. Wonder is classified for even younger readers but I loved it, too! Love them all and I’m def nowhere near YA age. Actually, my youngest is almost out of YA age range. 🙂

We were liars…I read it twice because of the twist in the end. Everything made completely different sense second time around. Book clubbed it with a group of high school girls and they LOVED it.

Just finished my second time through as well. I thought it was wonderful!!!

1
Jan

It really is one that needs a second read. I just never saw the end coming. I saw everything so different the second time yet didn’t feel like it was ruined because I knew the end. Just a different perspective throughout. Good writing and great reading.
