So, I have watched all of the Harry Potter films, but I’ve never read the books. Is it something that I should consider?

Oh, yes! You’ll have a grand time!
Absolutely. I read the entire series in three weeks. I didn’t get a ton of sleep, but that’s okay, it was worth it.
I remember queuing at night in the bookshop to get another one as it was released! ?
I started the series a lot later than most people because growing up, my parents were very religious. I started reading them the summer before I left for college because by then my parents didn’t care. Which I am so glad I did, my sister pulled an all nighter to get tickets to see the play.
wow! I was kinda hiding under my blanket at night to keep reading it otherwise I heard “Turn off that light!!” or ” you won’t wake up for school!!” hhaha
When are you going to see the play?? I had to leave it for now…tickets prices are insane… And Im not entirely convinced about Hermione…I imagined her similar she was in the movie….
@Beata My sister and I are going this summer because we have been swing up money for a trip to the uk for a while. I am a little shocked about hermione. I am still trying to get used to her because in my head she still looks like how she looked in the movie. Kind of upset they didn’t choose a ginger to play Ron.
Usually if I have seen the movie, then I am less likely to go back to read the book, but I know what a classic these are.
There is SO much detail omitted in the movies! Gosh Im so jealous you can read them first time….. ?
Yes!!!!!!
Absolutely!
The movies are great – the book are 1000 times better. YES, you should read them.
Yes!
YES!! I’m rereading right now….LOL
Yes!!!!
Absolutely. Soooo much better then the movies.
Gtfo of here. That’s the silliest question you’ve ever asked. Let me know if you want to borrow
Yes please i think it’ll be my summer read. I knew you’d approve.
You can borrow them but I’m only loaning them out two at a time and if you lose them or baby dave tears out a page we are no longer friends. ?
See i thought about that! And i was just going to post nvm lol we just got home
I’m just messing with you. I will lend them to you!
Without a doubt 😉
Yes
Yes
Yes, the movies do not do the story justice.
Oh you very much should!!!!! The first two movies were good to the books but the ones after were not so much. Your missing out on so much not reading them!
Im on it!
Awesome! 🙂
Be prepared for feels when you get farther in. Especially the last book
I also saw all the movies. I am on book 3 now and love them!! Yes read them.
Yes!
The books will help the movies make sense, quite frankly, and they’re infinitely better. Get started now!
Absolutely!!!
Totally!!!!!! 🙂
Okay, okay, okay! 🙂 lol
So much more awesome stuff in the books!
yes!
I think the books are best read as a family. If you don’t mind reading them twice, read them now. Otherwise, wait till the we ones are in the early grades then read em out loud. ?
Absolutely! They are amazing!
😮 please swap with me! I want to be able to read those books for the first time again!…
If you liked the movies you will love books as they are thousands times better!!
Definitely! Books are much better for the imagination.
1000% yes 🙂
Omg yes the books are a 1000 times better than the movie
Yes, indeed!
you are missing out on the details when you watch the movies.
I don’t think you even needed to ask that question lol. Everyone knows the book is always better than the movie. Now go get Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, get u a drink and find a quite place and start reading
Oh my goodness! OF COURSE READ THEM! so much richer than the films. Just be patient with them. They get better and mature along with the kids!
Yes you should, so much more in the books.
They are different enough to make it worth while. The films were very visual and geared to keep your attention for the more-or-less fast pace. Having seen the films you may well find the books either enhance that experience or, in reverse, are not enhanced by your memories of the films. My advice is to turn off you comparing-everything-brain, engage being a “kid” again and go for it. At 62, I’m wondering 1. Why I waited and 2. Why I thought they were too juvenile. They are not. So enjoy! 🙂
I think that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. That it won’t keep my attention
@Crystal My suggestion is still to disengage your adult mind. I think I once said to someone, “take off your big girl panties; remember what it was like to believe in fairies and such”. If you can do that, and not analyze the hell out of it (not an easy thing!) you may well enjoy it. If you want to skip book 1 and just jump in, you may well do that; I found it a bit slow but they’re introducing everyone/thing and you already know them. 🙂
That’s a good idea. 🙂 i will start with book one though i can disengage my n ind enough I’m sure !
So much yes
Exactly, the first two books are more kids oriented but they are getting more and more dark and more complex. Its absolutely amazing that at first glance an insignificant detail from the 1st book plays a vital role in one of the last ones! I love the series and I manage to find something new every time I re-read them! Enjoy every book, every chapter, every page and every detail xx
Yes
the books are excellent and there is a lol of detail in them which the films couldn’t include. I would read them
I’m the opposite of that lol, I have read all the books but have never watched a single film!
I have seen one two and three. And parts of the last one. They disappointed me with the third movie so much I stopped bothering with them.
Thats what I’m afraid of. Lol. If I find a book I absolutley love I try not to watch the movie for it if there is one.
Ya i get that. My friend and I absolutely love the mortal instrument series, and were excited and scared for the city of bones movie. We were beyond disappointed with it. They changed so much that they couldn’t have even made the next book into a movie if they wanted unless they didn’t follow a single thingfrom it because they messed up so bad
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYEDYES
Oh yes! Great writing!
I read the first one to my son, but he wasn’t into it so I finished it on my own. I didn’t really get into it, though.
We shall see!
Yes they are great.

Absolutely! The books are great!
Yes for sure
If you want some of the holes filled in from the movies, would like to get a better indepth feel for the characters and have LOTS of time on your hands, I would say read the books. They are really good, but everyone has their own opinions on them, especially if they saw the movies first. 😉
I loved the books but hated the movies lol
They ROCK
