I don’t. I get both. As long as I can read the book, I don’t care what type it is.

I prefer paperbacks because they’re lighter, fit in my purse, and cheaper. However, I do like hardbacks for collection purposes lol

If it’s a good book -hard back. If it’s one that I use more frequently (like a “goto” for reference ) I get paperback.

I prefer paperback. Its easier to carry around in my purse, not bulky to handle and the price is right.

I prefer paper, but when it’s a new book and I’ve read all the others, I will get hardback. Also at B&N they put their hardbacks on sale for 6.95. I will get those hardbacks as well.

I usually reread a lot and I don’t like not being able to bend the words the way I want them so I go to paperback. But every now and then, I get a hardback if I want it to last a while and to look good on my bookshelf and, if I have a collection going with it, I want to keep all of them the same kind, usually hardcover for my collections.

Whatever I find the best deal on. A part of me hates it when a series isn’t all the same format, but the frugal side of me tells it to shut up.

It kills me on the inside when they’re not the same format lol ?

I’m working on a collection of John Green’s books, which I want all to be paperback, but I bought his newest book as hardcover so now I’m slowly dying every day lol ?

I will upgrade to hardback from paperback if I come across it (I buy 90% of my books at library book sale, its also a matter of what we get, we get.)

1
Tyler

That is very true! I usually like to upgrade to hardcover when I want to have it solely on my bookshelf to show to people.

No one sees my bookshelf except my husband, as it is my room (he has his own room for his books).

Unless my SO drives me an hour away I get half an isle at Walmart and a couple dollar store end racks to pick from so availability has to come first, price and space have some bearing tho.

It depends on how I hold the book hardbacks are easier to hold and last longer than paperbacks in my opinion

Price, and paperbacks weigh less. Am reading a 1200 page book. Hate to think how heavy the hard back would be…

If it’s a book I want to keep or display, I’ll get hard cover. If it’s just something to read and move on, paperback or ebook.

If it doesn’t come out in paperback and I can’t wait, I’ll get the hardcover. I prefer paperbacks though. I willingly buy hardcovers from Goodwill though. It’s available and only 2 bucks.

My main reason is that hardcover is too heavy for me.

I get hard covers to give for Christmas. I like paperbacks for me because of prices. I like Kindle and library books too.

I personally prefer to read a paperback…if I do wind up with a hardcover I always take the dust jacket off while reading

I love hardcover or trade paperbacks. Mass markets just don’t appeal to me, and I don’t think they look good on my shelves.
