I personally have a hard time deciding between my Barnes and Noble edition of Dorian Gray and the understated elegance of my volume of selected works by Karin Boye (Swedish author).

That IS a very attractive cover. Just the kind of book one might pick up on a whim in a bookshop even though one’s never heard of it and has no free shelf space.

@Jonathan I thought it was Folio Society. Love their stuff.

0
Jonathan

@Jake me too, but as they are pretty expensive I do not have many. I have just this one and old copies of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Jane Eyre.

0
Jake

@Jonathan I only have A Brief History of Time, with my eye on a few dozen more. Jane Eyre is a good shout.

1
Jonathan

@Jake Jane Eyre is my next read. These are my copies on my bookshelf.

Here is the synopsis 🙂

Amy Lennox doesn’t know quite what to expect when she and her mother pick up and leave Germany for Scotland, heading to her mother’s childhood home of Lennox House on the island of Stormsay.

Amy’s grandmother, Lady Mairead, insists that Amy must read while she resides at Lennox House—but not in the usual way. It turns out that Amy is a book jumper, able to leap into a story and interact with the world inside. As thrilling as Amy’s new power is, it also brings danger: someone is stealing from the books she visits, and that person may be after her life. Teaming up with fellow book jumper Will, Amy vows to get to the bottom of the thefts—at whatever cost.
