@Dai absolutely!!! I read the whole series about 5 years ago. It took me 13 months but I’m currently doing a re read and I’m almost finished book 1 in a week
Thats what i hear.. I have a copy of the great hunt. Just havent started it yet. The eye of the world ends so good, sucks you into wanting to read more.
@Dai just do it!! If you ask for advice on here half the people will tell you it’s to long and you should skip from 7-11 but that’s horse shit!! Start at the beginning and enjoy the ride! They re kindled my love for reading as an adult. Don’t get me wrong there is some slow parts but in my opinion they are mostly necessary
Took me 2 years to read the first 14 books the first time, and 1 year to read them again with the 15th (with the help of audiobooks during commute) Great stuff
I read the first 3-5 (long time ago so I can’t remember), but I started losing interest…. so I cheated and asked my friend to tell me the rest of the story that was available at the time! It’s on my list to go back and read when my kids are older.
I read them 2 or 3 at a time the first time. Took about 2 years. Second time I blasted thru all 15 (including New Spring) in 12 weeks. Still my favorite series. I’ll read it again when I get the itch.
I’ve read them more times than I can count. Started around 1991, I was in the ninth grade and at the time there was just the first three. I thought it was a trilogy. Oh how naive I was. What a journey!
Skip 8,9,10… Not because it’s too long, but because nothing happens. Winter’s heart was super tedious… without giving out spoilers, I would say that one character’s story has fun, major developments, but the storylines of several other main characters go nowhere while Jordan starts adding in new characters and new character viewpoints. Were I not like 10000 pages into the series I would’ve given up on it due to the writing and pacing. Knife of Dreams was a good book and then Sanderson came in and picked up the pace. He did a great job and by the time we got to Chapter 2 I was very relieved to see movement in the main storylines again.
About to finish Eye of the World…already found Great Hunt and Dragon Reborn at a thrift store. No better than Terry Brooks, Weis/Hickman, Salvatore, or David Eddings, but I still enjoy them.
U will see the difference. The growth of characters in each book and storyline. By the end of the series or almost after finishing 11th book u will feel how much the story has changed. I loved the way Jordan wrote his characters….
Could have been about 5 books shorter but probably one you have to read before you die. It took me nearly 20 years to complete the series.
Is the series worth reading ? I have positive and negative feedback as avid reader and working librarian.
@Dai im glad i read it

Went 6 books in a row, realised I hadn’t read anything new for 2 years, so dropped it there.
Loved the lad with the Wolf powers story thred.

Thats what i hear.. I have a copy of the great hunt. Just havent started it yet. The eye of the world ends so good, sucks you into wanting to read more.
Purple
Where would I start reading if I wanted to pick up this series?
At the start??? So page 1 book 1
Which book. ?
Eye of the world
Thank you. 🙂
Sorry, I didn’t mean to come across as a dick
You didn’t lol.
There is also a prequel, A New Spring, but do NOT read that first. It ruins a big reveal.
@Brian I loved it! But read it after the series, I think if you read it anywhere else it would ruin stuff
I loved the first couple books but then they focused on characters I didn’t like so much and barely wrote about the ones I did.

Thanks I feel I would like to read series and this is encouragement I need?
Been reading them since I was 15. Had to re read the series every time a new book came out just to keep up. BEST EPIC FANTASY EVER
Sorry I get a tad incoherent about my favs
Reading it is like working 2 full time jobs, while raising 6 kids alone. But I’m glad I made the journey.
Bella was a dark fiend
Bela was the Creator
Isnt bela a horse? DONT RUIN IT
Bela kicks Arse!
I’m doing a re-read of it. I started three weeks ago with A new Spring, and am now on Lord of Chaos. It’s still one of my all time favorites.
I’m starting the great hunt tonight on my first RE read
Same as @Mimi it got boring after book 6;0
Took me 2 years to read the first 14 books the first time, and 1 year to read them again with the 15th (with the help of audiobooks during commute)
Great stuff
Wow, tracking BAMF
Beastly Armed Math Fanatic?
That works. Badassmofo isn’t nearly nerdy enough for that spreadsheet. 😛
He wrote those books.
There are a lot of them.
Wheels are round.
Is this enough comments?
Book group
Its a very tedious read
I’m gonna get the dragon too
@Roger how many hours did your arm take?

One of my top three favorite series
What is your favorite?
Top three are all tied : Dune by Herbert, Wheel of time, and Tolkien
12 hours total
Definitely worth the read. It’s on my list to to read again. Probably later this year.
I’m gonna have mine a bit different, less Chinese dragon
I read them 2 or 3 at a time the first time. Took about 2 years. Second time I blasted thru all 15 (including New Spring) in 12 weeks. Still my favorite series. I’ll read it again when I get the itch.

Slow burn.

Never read the series
But I couldn’t get into game of thrones either. Loved the 1st few seasons on cable though.
I could not get into the GoT books, I got to book 3 and couldn’t finish. I love the show!
1 of the few times I like a show or movie better than the book.
@Roger fair enough
About to finish Eye of the World…already found Great Hunt and Dragon Reborn at a thrift store. No better than Terry Brooks, Weis/Hickman, Salvatore, or David Eddings, but I still enjoy them.
