Could have been about 5 books shorter but probably one you have to read before you die. It took me nearly 20 years to complete the series.

You didn’t lol.

There is also a prequel, A New Spring, but do NOT read that first. It ruins a big reveal.

0
Tim

@Brian I loved it! But read it after the series, I think if you read it anywhere else it would ruin stuff

1
Mimi

I loved the first couple books but then they focused on characters I didn’t like so much and barely wrote about the ones I did.

@Dai just do it!! If you ask for advice on here half the people will tell you it’s to long and you should skip from 7-11 but that’s horse shit!! Start at the beginning and enjoy the ride! They re kindled my love for reading as an adult. Don’t get me wrong there is some slow parts but in my opinion they are mostly necessary

Took me 2 years to read the first 14 books the first time, and 1 year to read them again with the 15th (with the help of audiobooks during commute)
Great stuff

I read the first 3-5 (long time ago so I can’t remember), but I started losing interest…. so I cheated and asked my friend to tell me the rest of the story that was available at the time! It’s on my list to go back and read when my kids are older.

I read them 2 or 3 at a time the first time. Took about 2 years. Second time I blasted thru all 15 (including New Spring) in 12 weeks. Still my favorite series. I’ll read it again when I get the itch.

I’ve read them more times than I can count. Started around 1991, I was in the ninth grade and at the time there was just the first three. I thought it was a trilogy. Oh how naive I was. What a journey!

Skip 8,9,10… Not because it’s too long, but because nothing happens. Winter’s heart was super tedious… without giving out spoilers, I would say that one character’s story has fun, major developments, but the storylines of several other main characters go nowhere while Jordan starts adding in new characters and new character viewpoints. Were I not like 10000 pages into the series I would’ve given up on it due to the writing and pacing. Knife of Dreams was a good book and then Sanderson came in and picked up the pace. He did a great job and by the time we got to Chapter 2 I was very relieved to see movement in the main storylines again.

About to finish Eye of the World…already found Great Hunt and Dragon Reborn at a thrift store. No better than Terry Brooks, Weis/Hickman, Salvatore, or David Eddings, but I still enjoy them.

U will see the difference. The growth of characters in each book and storyline. By the end of the series or almost after finishing 11th book u will feel how much the story has changed. I loved the way Jordan wrote his characters….
