For me the main character was shallow and annoying, all characters were bland (except for the younger brother) and it seemed to ‘borrow’ from a lot of popular YA books. I didn’t enjoy the first book one bit :/

I’ve only read the first two books and the short stories collection. Every time I’ve gone in with low expectations and found myself pleasantly surprised so far!

I liked the first three books just fine but the last one was a huge letdown. If you can stomach bad endings then yay. There’ll be a collection of novellas tho. Hopefully it’ll make the ending more bearable.

thanks, the bad ending thing changes everything

0

@Phương it’s not that bad. The books are quite slow but entertaining.

If you want a potentially amazing book series that ends with a frustrating ending then that’s your book. Along with the divergent series.

Nay. The first book is great but the other three that follow are so boring. I dnf’d the final book because I just couldn’t get into it. I flicked through to the end and hated it.
A lot of the characters seemed to change personalities throughout the books too and yeah… I won’t continue haha

Sydney

@Hayley I was so excited for War Storm and then I tried to start it and found myself having to go back and reread a lot because I was spacing out so much. I have yet to pick it up again.

0
Hayley

@Sydney I was the same. Some chapters were unnecessary too. It’s a shame because it could have been a great series

0
Leigh

While I love the series, I had some issues with War Storm. Like I felt Iris’ pov chapters were kind of pointless. I really only read it for Evangeline

0
Sydney

@Hayley right? From what I’ve read about it… it’s made a lot of people quite angry.

0
Hayley

@Leigh Iris wasn’t needed at all I don’t think. I liked Evangeline in the first book but as it went on they changed her personality

0
Hayley

Sydney Branson yeah the ending was so… After everything that happened it was like really haha

Ehh, honestly if you dont think while reading it and just let the story take you it’s pretty good. If you think too hard or analyze you’ll hate it

the first one is good, it pulls you in, but as you go further in the sequel the MC gets on your nerve… i think ^^
