I finished it last night. I found it far too long and repetitive. Only started to enjoy it after Id read about 75% of the book. Not a favorite book but as the saying goes ” Different strokes for different folks”. I seem to be in the minority.
I’m about 40% along with it. I’m enjoying it but it’s not fantastic….probably because the parents are so codependent and full of issues, it’s tough to read about people like them.
I liked it alot. To me, her best book. Alot of people in online book groups have been critical of *Kristin Hannah for her character development and general writing. If you aren’t liking it, why bother?
I enjoyed it, though I felt some of the writing was overwrought and too many events were crammed in and rushed. But I really liked the main character, and other characters like Large Marge, and learning about Alaska. There was enough there for me to enjoy the book.
I had a hard time with it too because of the dysfunction and the abuse but I finished it. I can’t even remember how it ended. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who have lived through stuff like that because it would be too hard on them.
I was a bit bored during it, read til the end but not one of my better reads.
I listened to it on audio book and loved it. I just finished it today ?
I’ve just started it. It has great reviews ☺️
Remove from Device but keep them.
It’s one of my favorite books of all time!
It made me want to visit Alaska but otherwise not my favorite Kristen Hannah book. It kept shifting gears too much, so to speak
Really enjoyed it
Wasn’t my book! I write under a pen name, LoL! Hahaha!
Dark intense plot. Hang in there.

Agree
It was repetitive. I agree.
I didn’t like it as much as some of her other books. I thought it was good but not excellent.
It DOES get better. I didn’t love the beginning. Keep reading.
I felt the beginning was the good part and then it just got too dramatic and unrealistic
I agree. I enjoyed the first half. The second half seemed rushed, and like you said, unrealistic.
Agree!
Wait a while it does get better. Book club loved it.
I loved it
It gets worse imo, abandoned at the half.
No ?
I enjoyed her writing but she’s one of my favorites
This one was a little slow for me. It does get better but I do feel like the ending is rushed, but I feel like most of her books are that way.
I loved it
Loved it!
Loved it!
How funny how we all like different things! I loved this book all the way through.
Loved it
One of my favorites! Stick with it!
I was rooting for a bear to come and eat them all. Not a fan of this one.
I thought it was a good read. Not GREAT but I liked it
It was ok not as good as her other books. Saying that I did stick with it
I’m about 40% along with it. I’m enjoying it but it’s not fantastic….probably because the parents are so codependent and full of issues, it’s tough to read about people like them.
It was good, not great. I was expecting another ‘Nightingale’; that, it isn’t.
Im reading it now. It got better after the first 100 pages I thought.
I have started but having a hard time getting going, hard to keep track of foreign names in my old brain
I couldn’t put it down!!!!
I pushed through it, but it wasn’t worth it.
I liked it alot. To me, her best book. Alot of people in online book groups have been critical of *Kristin Hannah for her character development and general writing. If you aren’t liking it, why bother?
Simply loved it. Quite a page turner
I didn’t like it; regretted having started it. I’m one of those who can’t quit a book once I’m in ?♀️
Could not get into. Put it down, too many good reads out there!
LOVED IT!
FANTASTIC book
It’s an awesome book!
Yes it does!
It’s not an easy read, but it’s a very good story.
Keep reading good story.
I loved it as an audiobook
I read 130ish pages and didn’t love it. I renewed it a bunch of times but ended up returning it unfinished. I just couldn’t get into it.
Oh I loved it! It was intense but a good story
Finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it.
I don’t think so. I mean – it did get quite good for a bit, but then dragged on, and then frantically jumped years and ended in a bit of a wish-wash.
Wasn’t my favourite. But wasn’t awful either.
I thought the same thing and asked the group the same thing!! What chapter are you on? It’s def worth finishing f
Wasn’t the best book I read
Keep reading it ends up being a great book
I enjoyed it, though I felt some of the writing was overwrought and too many events were crammed in and rushed. But I really liked the main character, and other characters like Large Marge, and learning about Alaska. There was enough there for me to enjoy the book.
I loved that book! I finished it in like 3 days.
I had a hard time with it too because of the dysfunction and the abuse but I finished it. I can’t even remember how it ended. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who have lived through stuff like that because it would be too hard on them.
