It made me want to visit Alaska but otherwise not my favorite Kristen Hannah book. It kept shifting gears too much, so to speak

I finished it last night. I found it far too long and repetitive. Only started to enjoy it after Id read about 75% of the book. Not a favorite book but as the saying goes ” Different strokes for different folks”. I seem to be in the minority.

It DOES get better. I didn’t love the beginning. Keep reading.

I felt the beginning was the good part and then it just got too dramatic and unrealistic

I agree. I enjoyed the first half. The second half seemed rushed, and like you said, unrealistic.

This one was a little slow for me. It does get better but I do feel like the ending is rushed, but I feel like most of her books are that way.

I’m about 40% along with it. I’m enjoying it but it’s not fantastic….probably because the parents are so codependent and full of issues, it’s tough to read about people like them.

It was good, not great. I was expecting another ‘Nightingale’; that, it isn’t.

I liked it alot. To me, her best book. Alot of people in online book groups have been critical of *Kristin Hannah for her character development and general writing. If you aren’t liking it, why bother?

I read 130ish pages and didn’t love it. I renewed it a bunch of times but ended up returning it unfinished. I just couldn’t get into it.

I don’t think so. I mean – it did get quite good for a bit, but then dragged on, and then frantically jumped years and ended in a bit of a wish-wash.

Wasn’t my favourite. But wasn’t awful either.

I enjoyed it, though I felt some of the writing was overwrought and too many events were crammed in and rushed. But I really liked the main character, and other characters like Large Marge, and learning about Alaska. There was enough there for me to enjoy the book.

I had a hard time with it too because of the dysfunction and the abuse but I finished it. I can’t even remember how it ended. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who have lived through stuff like that because it would be too hard on them.
