I liked The Milkman by Anna Burns, award winner (Booker I think). Humorous and written in a different way than many- you learn about the conflict in Belfast/Northern Ireland. Also like A Thousand White Women, about early American attempt to marry natives to white women. Also The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir (one person’s journey from SE Asia to America)
