As someone who has a kindle without a light, the light alone is worth it.

Look under “early prime specials” then amazon devices

0
Patty

I’m a prime member and still can’t find it! Am I stupid??

0
Patty

I see one for 79.99?

1
Sirena

@Patty that’s it! The cheaper one is the regular Kindle and that one is Paperwhite.

0
Crystal

@Patty that’s it. 40.00 off!!!

0
Patty

Thank you all for the notes, I decided against it, I have 3 other Kindles and wanted one I could read at the beach but I’ll go the old fashion way and utilize the public library, that way I avoid a credit card bill too!!

Maryka

I just caved and got paper white , click on lightening deals

1

Ann

But to be clear in order to get library books you would have to connect to a computer to download them correct? Because the paperwhite does not have apps is that correct?

0
Reply
Maryka

Hmmm don’t know that answer

0
JoEllen

Paperwhite should connect to wifi to download books, no need to connect to a computer.

2
Lyndsay

With the Paperwhite you only need to connect to Wifi to download library books. You ‘accept’ it via Amazon and it goes right to your Kindle. Very simple.

0
Rose

Ok, what is the difference between “with special offers” and without beyond the $20 price difference?

Maryka

Adds, you pay extra for no adds

1
Rose

@Maryka how annoying are the ads?

0
Maryka

@Rose , they are only at beginning not in book from what I’ve read. This is my first rodeo as well, you can always pay the extra 20.00 to remove later from what I’ve read.

1
Amanda

The special offers are just ads that come up on the lock screen. Not in the books

1
Rose

Thanks, ladies! I ordered without. Probably not a big deal either way but I would prefer to skip the ads.

0
Lavonne

This is what an ad looks like… only on the wake screen where you swipe to unlock. You might run across a book you’d like to read… I have!

No photo description available.
2
Lavonne

There are no other pop up ads or anything like that. Only on opening.

1
Rose

@Lavonne Thank you for sharing that!

1
Lyndsay

Paying for no ads is a huge waste of money. You only see them on the screen before you wake up your device.

JoEllen

I’m still using my old Kindle Keyboard with a cover that has a built in light. I really want to upgrade to the paperwhite, but feel like I can’t justify that when the one I have works perfectly fine. The struggle is real!

2
Reply
Lavonne

Maybe you could donate the one you have to a church or reading club and then get the paper white because it is awesome and you will love it!
Win Win!

0
JoEllen

I decide to adult and keep what I have since it works perfectly fine, and eventually get the kindle oasis so I can read in the bath and my little pool without worry.

0
Megan

@JoEllen I don’t know what an oasis is. It won’t hurt to go check the website & just browse all the options…. ??

Do you know what the deal was last year on them?

0
Stefanie

It was $40 for a bundle that included the kindle, a case that you could choose from multiple designs & personalize, screen protector and 2 yr warrantee. That was for the non-backlit one. The backlit kindle was 49$ with similar package. The kindle fire was also around $50 and 10” screen was not much more.

0
Stefanie

And I agree—the back lit screen is worth it.
