Have you read all 5 of them

Kristina

@Sargam I didn’t know there was 5 I have read the first three!

Dee

A new author picked up the series after Larsen’s death. Not quite the same style but not bad.

The first 3, in my opinion the best ones, were written by Stieg Larson and published after he passed away. The other 2 are not as good. I consider this just a trilogy, I wouldn’t spend my time reading anything else after the first three.

4
Ella

Go with the trilogy. I got the girl in the spider’s web and it is a disappointment. I didn’t read the next one after that. Stick with Stieg Larson, is what I’m saying. He’s the best!?

Couldn’t get into it for some reason. I didn’t find it gripping enough

It’s awesome, probably my favorite trilogy. The first 3 books by Stieg Larson though, I don’t care much for the other 2 that came out after.

Same here Jennifer

You have to hang on through the first 100 pages of the first book. Then it takes off. Loved the original author’s writing style. Second author is ok but he’s not Larson.

While you are at it, do not forget the sequel. I loved it so much that at one time,I bought the same book twice. I loved the girl with the dragon tatoo, she is a character you instantly fall in love with.

I loved them all and continue to read them even though the original author passed away and no longer writes them

Tracy

I found the first book to be quite boring and unnecessarily drawn out. Its one of the only times in my life that I have ever said I preferred the movies ( which are quite good).

1
Reply
Judith

There is some serious violence and painful sex scene in first book. Despite this a wonderful intense set of books.

It starts slow, and I had a difficult time with it, and then there was one sentence that told me I was hooked. Read them all, including the ones written by David Lagercrantz and watched the movie in Swedish and English.

I want to live on a planet with Lisbeth Salander

1
Lisa

Someone told me the Swedish version of the movies were better.

0
Sage

@Lisa They are much better. They are making a sequel to the English movie, but it only covers the 4th book and completely skips over the 2nd and 3rd books.

0
Lisa

@Sage that is just wrong.

0
Sage

I know. ?

0
Lisa

I think for me I made a mistake in seeing the movie before reading the books. Couldn’t finish them.

Dee

Did you see the US version or the Swedish versions. I have to say that the Swedish versions were better. You have to work through subtitles but they were good.

1
Lisa

@Dee I agree. I saw both and prefer the Swedish ones…

Excellent, but stay away from the “sequel” written after his death. It’s crap.

Great series. The first three, that is. I don’t reckon much to the one after, by the other author. Don’t know, about anyone else.

Debbie

I read the first book in the series but found it to move slow & didn’t really grab me. By end of the book, just wasn’t interested enough to proceed to Book 2.

Some parts are going to be very hard to read because of the content but I loved the books. After you read them read something light because they are heavy.

They’re very entertaining. And it’ll make you disappointed 7-11 isn’t as great as in the books(if you live in the US).

1
Reply
Haley

Do you mean the shop 7/11? Lol we used to have them here years ago…..

2
Alex

Yes. They’re much fancier in Sweden. Or art least fancier in Swedish fiction.

2
Judith

I enjoyed them all 1st one is slow starting, but worth it for what comes next, you are in for a bumpy ride.
