If you want to stay with more of the classics – The House of the Seven Gables, The Count of Monte Cristo, Daisy Miller, Wuthering Heights, Moby Dick, Pickwick Papers, Pride and Prejudice, The Call of the Wild, Robinson Crusoe, Frankenstein.

You might like “Dorian, An Imitation”, by Will Self, which puts the story in a modern setting.

At the risk of sounding really stupid I don’t think anything compares to The Picture of Dorian Gray… You might read something similar to the mood but Wilde’s atmosphere and reflection on his character in his time are unique…
