@Sierra I found it to be an easy read but sometimes violent- so that might make the hard at points.

My husband and I just got that book to read together. Sounds like it’s a great read, though it’s going to take awhile to get through!

SierraQuestion author

Any particular reason, or just didn’t enjoy?

0
Martine

@Sierra, I found the writing terrible; overexplaining (like he doesn’t trust the reader to understand what he means), two-dimensional characters, boring and loooong architecture lectures, rapey scenes. Not my book.

0
SierraQuestion author

@Martine I see, thank you!

1
Patty

One learns a lot from this great historical fiction read…every time I see a cathedral now I look at it and understand what and how it was built.. characters are just not that demensional back then..not sure why he had to put those rapey scenes in it but just skip it if you don’t like it…I skip stuff all the time.

Sit back, and go for it… Enjoy… There is no finishing date… It’s a great book.

Elle

Never read it and it’s a religious book so for me is a no.

1
Reply
SierraQuestion author

@Elle that’s an understandable viewpoint. I’m about 80 pages in since I’ve posted this and there hasn’t been a hard mention of religion yet except maybe a little witchcraft. It seems to be more about the construction of a church from an architectural standpoint, but that might change further in ?

0
SierraQuestion author

I’m wondering if anybody else who’s finished it found it to be religiously heavy? That might throw me off down the road if it were to get very involved.

0
Holly

I don’t remember it ever being very religious! It talks about the religion of that time period but not outside of that
