Need a heart wrenching book. Like Crawdads, Home For Unwanted Girls, The Promise of Stardust.

I’m looking for a really great heart wrenching book. I loved Crawdads, Home For Unwanted Girls, The Promise of Stardust. Not a historical fiction fan. Please help me find something I can drown in.

John Steinbeck The Red Pony. I had to stop reading it I was so upset. I still don’t know how it ends ( not well, knowing Steinbeck)

I just finished A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult and it was great! I have been “off” her books for a while because I was tired of the format where each chapter is in a different character’s voice but this book wasn’t written like this. In fact, it’s written in reverse order which is a bit confusing but a great concept! Finished it in a couple of days!
