I have trouble if my husband is watching tv because he has a habit of turning the volume up higher instead of asking the kids to quiet down or play in the other room, so then the kids get louder to hear each other over the tv….. And so forth. It gets really loud really fast

I turn off chat heads in messenger settings while reading in Kindle and set my notifications to “do not disturb” so stuff doesn’t pop up over my book. Obviously idk what kind of device you use but hopefully yours have similar options! Too me a while to find mine but it was driving me crazy!

“it’s Daniel tigers neighborhood, the land of make believe. Won’t you ride along with me? Riiiide along!” ?? that really gets me lol

But with a good gripping book I can probably tune out most anything.

I have typically found . . . reading helps me those years. 😉

2
Hailey

It really depends on the severity. Like tonight I’m having the hardest time doing anything

1
David

I’d imagine. Often, I stay away from the subjects of my depression . . .then other times? I just dive in . . . none of it’s right, none of it’s wrong . . . I feel for ya . . . wish I could help.

1
Hailey

Thank you. I appreciate knowing im not alone. I am the same way i dont usually talk about it

1
David

@Hailey Sometimes it’s just good to type it and put it to words . . . do you have medical or family support?

0
Hailey

I dont have either. I have a boyfriend who is as caring as can be but that is about where it stops. I write a lot. Im trying to write my book

1
David

Continue that mode . . . admire your b/f for caring . . . and write write write . . . someday . . . we’ll all be reading you . . .promise . . . smilin’ . .. I’m not good at this . . . but keep your chin up kiddo . . . it get’s better!

@Nichole-Cody I can understand. When my wife went through mastectomy I could not read for months. She survived and is fully normal and I am reading now. Often reading helped me maintain a balance after the initial trauma.

Went to a baby shower and during the eating portion of the baby shower someone told me to put away my book. That irked me.

1

@Melissa in situations like that, i would make sure the book was themed – then all I have to say is “research”

0
MelissaQuestion author

She wanted me too talk, but I am not a talkative person.

0
Michael

Then people have to respect that

1
MelissaQuestion author

@Michael I was studying the original Peter Pan story for my own book I am writing. I might have told her it was research, but I don’t remember if I mentioned that or not. It was a couple of months ago now.
