Honestly, her books Sharp Objects and Dark Places are GREAT if you loved Gone Girl. Dark novels with major twists. She’s my favorite author. Looking forward to her next release next November!

Also The Girl on the Train is good and same concept of dark theme and big twist.

Tara Frenchs books. I’m not a mystery lover but hers are very good.

Probably should have asked for only those who enjoyed Gone Girl to respond. ? while it may not have been enjoyed by everyone, all of the “anything” comments are kind of unnecessary.

I really liked Gone Girl. I have also enjoyed The Widow by Fiona Barton, Not a Sound by Heather Gudenkauf, All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda, As Night Falls by Jenny Milchman.

So glad you said it, I didn’t t like Gone Girl OR Girl on the Train..
Thought both of them were highly overrated. I loved All the Missing Girls though, and PD James’s Dalgliesh is still my best.

4
Reply
Kristine

Love PD James. I didn’t finish Gone Girl or Girl on the Train. Couldn’t get into either of them.

1
Kristin

Not a decent person to be found in Girl on the Train. Tough to get behind any of them.

1
Mellissa

Agreed. Same goes for Paula Hawkins new one, Into the Water. I just finished No One Knows by JT Ellison, and it was the same, a lot of hype and build up to nothing, I didn’t enjoy it.

The movie was filmed in my town. “The Bar” was just an empty storefront. After the movie, a local doc bought it, and it has the same exterior, but it’s a great little place to eat while shopping downtown 🙂

What genre? You want a better thriller/mystery? It’s hard to beat Silence of the Lambs.

1/2 way through Gone Girl ….. wouldn’t say it is the best read …. but certainly not the worse…..there are so many better books out there that are better written …. but for an easy read it gives a brake from more heavyweight material ….
