Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. It makes you think about the ethical & moral treatment of people with mental disabilities but in the most gripping and readble story.

I’ve just finished “we need to talk about Kevin” what an amazing book! Not a nice subject but very thought provoking.
Another amazing book is “Monique and the mango rains” it’s actually a true story of monique who lives in Africa and trained to be a health visitor but basically ends up being the villages midwife and doctor. Awe inspiring, I highly recommend.

I loved Lionel Shrivers’ “We Need to Talk About Kevin”. Themes included: nature/nurture debate, causes of crime, sociopathy, parenting skills, blame and forgiveness, amongst others. Fantastic read. The film wasn’t a patch on the book.

You’re welcome, @Jane. Hope you really enjoy it. It takes a while to get into it as she has an unusual writing style but stick with it!
