Christian Read writes a good series. Only 3 books.

The Women of the otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong springs to mind-this has all sorts of creatures-witches, werewolves, necromancer (or in a few of the book it is a woman who can talk to the dead), demons and vampires (but less vampires than the other creatures). The first book is Bitten (this one is about werewolves).
Moreover I would also recommend the YA urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare-the first book is called City of Bones.

@Becky I love the women of the otherworld series! I’m looking for a lot more like this. Thanks for the tip otherwise though, would’ve been an awesome read?

Julia Vedder Did you read the YA series too? Darkest power and Dark Rising? I actually read those first before finding out about women of the Otherworld. They are set in the same universe and expand on the supernaturals.

@Cherrie I did! Everything but the Omens and legends series’ so far. Haven’t really gotten into omens sadly, nor the legends series:( love otherworld though, easily my favorite series of books!

Also if you have yet to read Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy which stays with A discovery of witches , then Shadow of Night and finally the Book of Life you should definitely read them.

@Becky I’m intrigued by A discovery of witches, really should give this a chance I think. I just hope it’s not as gloomy as the first two episodes of the tv series was!

I have to admit I haven’t seen the tv series yet-I’ve only read the books.

Shana Abe does a series about shape shifting dragons, it starts with The Smoke Thief. If you like vampires romance Christine Feehan dark series is pretty good. The later books get pretty racy but I like her writing style.

Juliet Blackwell also does a witches series that is a lot of fun. The 1st one is secondhand spirits. I listened to them on audio and really enjoyed them. She inherits a second hand shop and buys vintage clothing, which comes haunted as you can imagine. It’s a mystery witchcraft series.
