I’m obsessed with the Outlander series. Anything by Julie Garwood will fit that bill if you’re looking for a one time read.
They are PHENOMENAL. Scottish Highlands, France and the American colonies spread out over 8 books so far.

You should totally read it and the second book Scarlett they are different from the movie in more than a few ways and they are so good and I’m not just saying that because I’ve read it over a 100 times lol
