@Sue I liked them when I was young but now as an adult I don’t really like the person v environment conflict. It doesn’t hold the same tension for me that a good villain does.
I have the first 2 books I just found them . Sometimes reading all the time like I’m sure lots of us do, I tend to forget names. I’m starting book one now!
@Jonathan I love the fact that every character in the book is based off of real people in Irish mythology. You can look up and find information on them.
Joseph Williams My last comment about being sad was not a commentary directed specifically at you. These books are older. But books that I do not see spoken about as much as others for whatever reason. I actually would not doubt that there are quite a few who haven’t read them. But then fantasy is such a wide genre that we all can fall into our own worlds and completely miss hundreds of others.
It was my love for dragons which drew me to the covers of these books when I was a kid. And it was the beautiful dragon artwork which got me to pick them up and read them.
@Denise these books are so good, with a unique take on both magic and time travel as well as racism and personal relationships and how they affect politics. So much to love.
Very frustrating ending for me though. Started these as a kod and followed the series for years but i agree gets mega weird and hard to follow if you havent read his other books

@Sue I liked them when I was young but now as an adult I don’t really like the person v environment conflict. It doesn’t hold the same tension for me that a good villain does.

Rohan
Joseph Williams Nope not a country. Actual person. Honestly I feel sad no one got it yet. Makes me think the books are far underappreciated.
Perhaps you meant Roran? From eragon?
@Nathan Nope his name is Rohan. Although I am about to add his future wife’s name in as an added clue.
God dang it. I can’t think of who. I saw it and your comments and hoped for a misspelling. Lol
It was my love for dragons which drew me to the covers of these books when I was a kid. And it was the beautiful dragon artwork which got me to pick them up and read them.
Dragon rider’s of pern?
@Nathan No but funny enough, those 2 series are on the same shelf.
Ugh. It’s gonna bother me. I’ll be back.
Cadmus Weyland.
Phedre
Achmed
Achmed the snake from rhapsody by Elizabeth Hayden?
He was so cool and didn’t give a **** except for one person.
@Denise these books are so good, with a unique take on both magic and time travel as well as racism and personal relationships and how they affect politics. So much to love.
I agree. Each book held its own ( nine in all). So much going on and it all fell into place. Great series. I am only showing eight, one is on loan:)
@Denise I didn’t know there was more after the first three. That’s where they capture the demon, what else is there?
@Denise I LOVE Elizabeth Hayden!!!!!
Richard, It gets real juicy after that. Can’t give any info ( you know spoilers) but I recommend that you finish the other 6 books.
Vlados
Here’s one only funny fantasy readers will know Wanda, Nina, and all the other accidentals
Suzannah
Dark tower?
damn too easy I guess lol
Im still in the process of reading this series.
its strongest in the beginning. Book 5 and on are less awesome but still good.
Im half way through wolves of the calla, its a grind.
yeah wolves of the calla almost feels out of place in the series.
Yeah, kinda feeling lost, hopping it ties in somewhere down the road.
It starts getting mega weird after this book.
I had thoughts of stopping here and just not completing the series. Its seems to be off the rails somewhat.
I think at this book it loses what made the world so cool. There are lots of cross overs to real world and tie ins of his other books.
The final book is a slog with an interesting payout.
Very frustrating ending for me though. Started these as a kod and followed the series for years but i agree gets mega weird and hard to follow if you havent read his other books
