I have the Nook Glowlight Plus, but got it strictly for philosophical reasons over the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. However, if you want a superior reading experience, the Kindle beats the Nook without much of a sweat. With that said, I’ll still never own a Kindle.

I have used my tablet for reading but I prefer my kindle. My basic kindle with no backlight. Still reads like a book. I enjoy reading in a reading chair under a lamp. Holds a bunch of books and was cheap during the holidays so I don’t mind tossing it around.

I like my Kindle Oasis. Lightweight, water resistant, and light adaptive. I would go with the new Paperwhite, though. It’s about the same thing as the Oasis, but cheaper. I’m mad that I bought the Oasis and a few months later a cheaper option came out. ??

Kindle Fire! By far the best. Have read on the paper white and while reading in the sun is a benefit that is the only benefit; but, I read on the Fire in sunlight as well. I have read on both and much, much, much prefer the Fire. Love that I can read at night without light on so hubs can sleep?. I am addicted to my Kindle. Plus it drops in your handbag, easy to take along!

I’ve gotten spoiled by my Kindle, which surprised me, because I use my iPad so much. Just lighter, and I’m not as tempted to check FB or mail, or get distracted by other apps or games (but I also end up getting up to check certain places or historical facts that are easier to get to and read on my iPad.) Still, for just reading, Kindle.

I use Kindle Paperwhite and like it. I also will read on my iPad and iPhone–whatever’s with me at the time. Nook would be fine too, but it depends mostly on which ecosystem you are invested in. I have lots of Kindle books and audible books, and I like that they sync together so I can choose how to read depending on what I’m doing. I’ve also heard good things about Kobo with its easy access to library books.

Actually, it’s frustrating — I used to be able to SYNC between my iPhone & iPad on Overdrive so I could read the same book on either, but now it won’t let me download a book I’ve checked out on two devices. Grrrr. Anyone else encountered this?

For pleasure reading? Kindle or iPhone, then I switch to my Ipad before I fall to sleep. I love that I can sync my reading from the phone to the ipad kindle. For much nonfiction, I try paper whenever possible.

I bought the new Kindle Paperwhite (2018) having never owned an e-reader before. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

I live in a remote area of China, so getting English books delivered is difficult at the best of times. It makes the process so much easier, plus I travel around a lot. Considering it’s lighter than most books and fits in a large pocket, it’s a win-win situation.

Denise

Kindle Paperwhite for the following reasons: No glare, because it is not backlit, contrary to misconceptions.
Both Kindles and Paperwhites do not have backlight. The paperwhite has a whiter page appearance than the original. It also has tiny lights embedded between the outer screen and the case, giving it more of an even illumination. The old kindle has, if I remember correctly, only lights on one end, making it uneven and harder to read. The first ones had no lights at all unless you bought a separate case with a book light. The paperwhite is the easiest Kindle to read. Unlike backlit devices like tablets and phones, you can read in the brightest outdoor settings, and that’s a huge deal breaker for me.
