This one is great and the film is a good adaptation, I thought. I couldn’t get into the sequel, though. The characters were just too annoying for my taste. But thumbs up for the first book!

We read it in my book group. One of my friends has a congenital bone disorder and has always been a great source of insight from the perspective of someone living with disability. Most of us initially enjoyed the book—it’s a an easy read with a relatable heroine, what’s not to like, right? But the message that a life of disability—even with a deep love—isn’t worth living is pretty terrible when you think about it.

This book was great! The movie had to omit a very important plot line. The second book, I felt didn’t stay true to the girl’s character.

It’s ableist as hell. I won’t go into spoilers, but, yeah. The main plot line is ableist and I think that kind of story could’ve been told/done a lot better.
