I’ve been wanting to listen to an audiobook because I’ve never experienced it before. Maybe I will listen to one on the road instead of the radio.

3
Ann

@Deserae I listen in my car, and when walking. Give it a try!

2
Bianca

@Deserae I recommend comedian memoirs when you’re starting with audiobooks, because they’re written by people who think about delivery for a living and deliver their own material.

i have at times read more than one book, depends on my mood.

I always have at least 2 going. I just finished Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and am also reading The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance by Elna Baker. They’re both good but very different!

I always read multiple books at once. My friend thinks I’m crazy but if you think about it it’s not that weird. Most people, before streaming services, would watch a different set of shows every night and no one thought it was weird or had trouble with story lines. If I’m able to read everyday, I enjoy jumping from book to book. I still sometimes will end up focusing on one story because it just grabs me, but I like to mix it up for the most part. I don’t think it’s weird to read multiple books at once, but to each there own, that’s what I always say lol.

That makes sense! I’d never thought of it that way.

1
Tim

@Melissa sometimes you wanna binge watch but sometimes want to see something different every night right? hahaha if someone doesn’t have a lot of time to read I get reading one book at a time. But I am lucky to be able to read everyday so I like to have a lot of irons in the fire.

1
Melissa

@Tim That makes perfect sense! I never did it because I had very little time to read. I still don’t have as much time as I would like but I’m getting there.

1
Tim

Trust me there is never as much time as we would like lol! I was just out of work for a couple months (medical leave) and I would sometimes read for 8 or 10 hours a day and I was still sitting in my chair at night like “Man if I only had a few more hours” lol. This was my first week back and I only got to read 3 or 4 hours over the whole week! Hahaha I’m practically in withdrawl looking at my books as I leave for work!

1
Melissa

@Tim I hope your recovery is smooth and speedy. It’s a tough transition when you’re robbed of your reading time. Work always gets in the way.

1
Tim

Totally, work is the worst haha

I’ve tried reading multiple books at once, but I found myself getting confused about which book had which characters, which plot, etc. I didn’t find it as enjoyable as I do reading (savoring) one book at a time.

I always have 2 on the go – one audible and another for bed time reading. Most of the time I will have some sort of self help also that I am going through. The self help books are a lot slower going through than the fiction – definitely not as fun. I simply like to listen to audiobooks just so I can get things done that don’t need focus or when driving somewhere. I have to read at night before sleeping and like to read a physical book as I find it more comforting. Sometimes I will read a book on kindle also. Find kindle is easier to take with me to read while waiting.

I learned the hard way to vary my genres. In doing hardback, kindle and audible at same time, did 2 women’s beach fiction in audible and kindle. They merged into 1 messed up incoherent chaos!
