DS novels provide a nice “mental vacation” from everyday life.

I had never read Danielle Steele until a couple of years ago. I’m not fond of torrid romances. I was astonished at how they were not trashy and she always had something interesting to teach. I call her books “Pop Corn” reading to relax with.

I gulped down her very early books which I loved- the Promise, Seasons of Passion, Wanderlust and Crossings. I think I read her first book in 178 when our daughter was 3 years old.

My grandfather, WWII vet, adored her novels, and became pen pals with her assistant. He had several signed first editions in the 1980 and 1990s

I hadn’t read her either, until about 2 years ago. I have read, Accident, Fall From Grace (really good) and Fairytale. There are several newer ones I want to read of hers. She puts out a couple of books a year. I really want to read her more personal books as time allows.

I always liked Changes; the couple had so many realistic problems.

@Louise I think all of her books are real life!

1
Louise

@Dreama Not the ones where some young girl marries a very wealthy older man; they’re so happy, he’s a sex God, etc. THen he dies. She marries someone else who is also a sex God and very wealthy. Very predictable.

1
Linda

@Louise After all, that’s what happened in the author’s life too, so I guess that’s her fantasy.

Linda

A long time ago I wondered what the big fuss with her was about, so I read Wanderlust & it was better than I expected, but she’s just not for me.
