Mort, Guards! Guards!, or Wyrd Sisters. There are some good Discworld reading guides available online that can also help you decide.

You don’t have to read them in order… if I’d started with the colour of magic I probably wouldn’t have continued. My best advice is look at some blurbs see what takes your fancy

Mort. I love that book. Colour of Magic is the first, but not really representative of the rest, they improved massively after that. It’s still bloody good though. But Mort is my favourite x

My daughter has read Wee Free Men and moving on to the main ones she’s chosen Mort so a popular starting point it seems.

Hogfather or Mort are good places to start, unless you want to read them in order.

@Debbie yeah those 2 seem to be most peoples favourites but just got book 1 but i will get those next thanks X

@Jane I read them in order so think that’s a good way to dip your toe in. If you decide you don’t really like it, I would definitely try those two before ruling out the Discworld books.

This time of year, Hogfather.

41 Discworld books. All hilarious. They don’t need to be read in order but I’ve read the whole series several times and I got more out of the main characters when read in order. Loosely they are The Witches; The Wizards plus Rincewind; The NightWatch; The Death (Personified, of course) stories as well as the Tiffany Aiching (Wee Free Hag) stories & few standalone books.
Have fun. Each character will have an effect. Watch out for the Librarian and don’t ask why he’s a monkey…oh shhhiii…!

The first one I read was Wyrd Sisters, it was a gift. I was totally hooked from there on.

It took me a couple to get into them and then I read every single one! I think they grow on you as you become more familiar with the world and minor characters. CMOT Dibbler for example?!!! Xxxx
