I love Arabian fairy tales! One of my favorites, (not sure the origin), was about a King who would kill any cook whose dishes displeased him. Finally a chef saved his own life by cooking only dishes that the King had never tasted!
@Tanya I don’t remember, it was so long ago, I hope you find it though. I remember a big beautifully illustrated book of Arabian Fairy Tales, but I could be wrong.
Sherri Tepper wrote some fairytale stories. Beauty is one, but there are others I’m sure. It’s been a while since I read any which is why I’m a bit vague.
I would suggest these: -The Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige – The Storymakers trilogy by Betsy Schow (Spelled, Wanted, Banished) -Wendy Darling trilogy (Stars, Seas, Shadow) by Colleen Oakes -Queen of Hearts saga by Colleen Oakes -Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer -Mermaid by Carolyn Turgeon -Never Ever & The Lost Kids by Sara Saedi -Tiger Lily by Jody Lynn Anderson -Peter Darling by Austin Chant -Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell -The Girls at the Kingfisher Club by Genevieve Valentine (Based on the fairytale The Twelve Dancing Princesses) -Abandon series by Meg Cabot (based on the Hades/Persephone mythology)

They’re fabulous, wasn’t the biggest fan of the Blood Spell which is the newest one but it’s still worth a read. The Wish Granter is my favourite ?

I also love the darkness in lots of old fairytales, it seems like over the years some of them have been diluted
