No, there are no apps to pay you to read. There are a few jobs in NYC or nearby, and some secondary income jobs as reviewers. Both of those will usually require you to read what they say, not your pick.
You can sign up with NetGalley. They don’t pay you, but you get advance copies (yes, sometimes also paperbacks) that you don’t have to buy anymore later. And you can pick what you want to read.
