The stand is amazing, the first half is phenomenal.

I did start the other one and it’s also good, I think it appeals to Americans more than anyone else since it’s about JFK.

But keep in mind, SK alwayd ends his books in a weird way, not that they’re good or bad. Just weird.

Currently reading 11/22/63 (first SK book for me) and I’m a smidge over halfway thru- it’s interesting but I’m kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop though.

i am surprised, there is a discussion about the worst books one has ever read, and Stephen King tops the list while he is the wealthiest writer. i ONLY read Fire starter , AND DECIDED to read his memoirs- ON Writing.

Sean

@Givemore the thing is it is all personal opinion. I don’t happen to like stephen king writing style but I don’t think I would clarify him as the worst

0
Spiced

On Writing is good. He’s not the worst writer although I think there are some people who may never like his work. He took my imagination to the underside of my bed. As in the reason I keep my feet tucked in bed at night. ??

0
Sean

Actually king is not the wealthiest author there are 4 or 5 ahead of him as of 2017

The Stand has a nonsensical ending that negates the more than 1000 pages that come before it. 112263 was okay.

I’m curious when someone says something is excellent what do they mean other than “I liked it”?

0
Reply
Anna

The degree to which they liked it. Saying it’s excellent implies that it was an above average book, they liked it more than others.

0
Jean

I think “excellent” means, for me, that it really can’t be improved. When I think of a book as excellent, I mean I wouldn’t change anything about it.

Couldn’t read either one fast enough. Is it as good as The Stand? I want to lean toward The Stand as the better novel as I was just discovering the wonder of King’s writing. 11/22/63 comes along some 35 years later and … it blew me out of the water. Would have to say a toss up. Both superb.
