If you can do it and find it easy and preferable and no harm is done, why should it be wrong?

Why not? I often have several books on the go at the same time to suit my moods, the time of day (nothing too absorbing at night if I have an early start lol) or how much time I have to read.

If it is what you enjoy, no. As long as you don’t hurt other people or harm anything it can’t be wrong

It’s bad news for the author…it means that their book did not hold your interest so you went on to something else. And you will forget important details of their book so you will get even more bored.
If a book is really good, I don’t put it down to read something else…unless it is so suspenseful I can’t get to sleep at nite. then I might read something boring at bedtime.

I prefer reading Poems at Night… for me feeling good …it makes my Mind calm.

1
Arielle

Not necessarily….everyone is different. For instance, some people just don’t have the longest attention span regardless of how good a book is so they have to switch back and forth between stories.

0
Matt

I think that’s a bit off @Laura, It doesn’t mean the author didn’t do a good job, it’s just the preference of the reader. I read 3 or 4 books at a time all in different genres, business, psychology, child development/nonfiction and fictional 🙂 everyone has their own style, no disrespect to the author.

Nope. I’m down to 2, having finished my audiobook and given up on another through lack of interest.
But I’ve just had a new one delivered and I’ll have another audiobook ready to go for Monday at work.

I’ve read two at one time before. I likened it to watching two different television shows. People do that and more all the time and keep stories straight. So why not with books?

No, you do you. I personally like to juggle between one in my Kindle, one physical book, and one audiobook. If I’m reading more than one book on a single format, I try to read different genres so I don’t mix up the storylines.

Not wrong.

Reading a few chapters at a time is like watching a few episodes of a tv show and then mixing it up by watching something else for a bit.

So not “wrong”. Not unless you’re the type to get confused or forget what you’ve read.

Wrong, why?! It’s actually doable. You just need to organize yourself and your mind. Otherwise, how would people handle their Ph.D., research projects, thesis, book projects and so forth??

0
Reply
Giselle

No, but be careful! I read 6 books at once one time and they were all so slow that I lost interest in all of them and went into a book slump. lol 6 boring beginnings can do that to you. lol

I think it really depends on the person; I know some people who can’t stand to start another book before they finish their current book. I on the other hand often read 2 to 3 books at the same time. I like to read what catches my fancy at the moment, i.e. fantasy, mystery, etc. And I like to have options. 😀
