I take by kindle everywhere… concerts, movies, grocery shopping, sporting events. There was only 1 time they wouldn’t let me in with it. It was at a sporting event at a local arena, they check bags before you go in & told me I couldn’t take my kindle in and my options were 1- taking it back to the car or 2- leaving it at the guest services desk and getting it back afterwards. Thankfully, we parked pretty close so my husband walked it back to the car. I never take it to this arena anymore anytime we go to an event there.
Ok…I’ll be that person. I read while I’m waiting for the previews to start. But keep in mind other people who also PAID for their tickets will not want to see a distracting book light or backlit screen while they’re trying to watch their movie. If you’d rather read them go to a movie, then why even go?
I bring a book with me, but one is always in my purse. I am anal about getting into the theater and finding my seat 15 min before the trailers start. I’ll read up until then.
Never thought about taking a book to the theater, but I always have a ton of books loaded on my phone (Kindle and Nook apps), so I’m set if I need one in a pinch. I took a book to a football game once, though. Friends came in from out of town and wanted to drive 3 hours to see Miami play. Nobody would let me out of the trip, even though I HATE football. Expensive tickets, expensive parking, and the day was hotter than Hades (Florida, so a typical day!! lol). Thankfully I took a book. I went into the stadium (after suffering through “tailgating” which bored me half to death), took one look at the seats and the sun beating down on them, and went back downstairs to read at one of the tables until my husband finally brought me the keys to the truck and I went out there to read. Books saved me from a truly miserable day!! lol
I’ve done that when joining a group of friends watching a movie (on the television, not the cinema), and now I think I feel bad about it. I think I was reading an Edgar Allen Poe’s collection of short stories. Do you think I was being a jerk??? I was unable to leave the book ☹️
Considering I once took a pillow to the movies, I’d say no. The question is, will your penlight distract movie watchers? ? My sleeping straight through the movie sure didn’t bother anyone??
Our cinema is SO expensive I wouldn’t want to miss one second of the movie. Even get in there to watch the trailers ??
Enjoy the movie.
No I do it all the time read before it starts
I don’t read in theatres but no matter what I carry a book with me.
You never know, the movie may be boring!
Hahaha
You can always read before the previews come on. Or during the previews, if you have enough light.
no not at all I often wanted to take my kindle with me when watching a movie with my kids 😀
I ALWAYS have a book with me no matter what lol
Go for it, in case ?????
It’s Wonder Woman
Lol and I’ve been dying to see it
Saw Wonder Woman yesterday, you won’t need a book!!
Okay ?

Bad, no, but that’s a big expense to not actually watch the movie. lol
??
I take a book and kindle to the show; waiting on show to begin or if i going to see a second movie.
Better safe than sorry, you can never tell when a movie is going to be a dud. Don’t forget your book light!
I’ve taken books to the prforming arts center!

I am thinking of taking a book to read when I take my granddaughter to see Captain Underpants.

Only for before the movie. I would never bother people with the light from the screen or book light during a movie.

We have a theater near us that had recliners. I’ve started bringing my Slanket 🙂
Just did the same thing last night ???
I take my kindle to read before the movie and during previews.
Nope. I bring a book to read before the movie starts. Lol.
