I hated this book, with so much passion. But, I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened, and I was furious with the ending. The movie is the best book to movie adaptation I’ve ever seen. Even though I hated the book, it was worth the read because it still made me feel something. :).

I kept reading it, too. Hoping to figure out what the hype was all about. ?

1
Kelly

Me too. My sister gave me the book like “you NEED to read this.” ?

1
Catherine

Me too. Didn’t like ‘girl on a train’ either. Get so frustrated that some of these books get to be best sellers just because they get pushed so much! Then books just get bought because people are sheep!!

Was not a favorite. I found it regrettably forgettable.

Personally, I really loved the book but hated the ending. That said, the more I thought about it, the more I realized it really couldn’t have ended any other way. Definitely worth the read, but be prepared for a fit of rage at the conclusion.

Yes, if you haven’t seen the movie. Gillian Flynn wrote the screenplay, so it follows the book very well. If you’ve seen the movie you’ve pretty much read the book. Sharp Objects and Dark Places were also good.

I liked it way more than the movie. That said, if you’ve already seen the movie, the book will certainly be less dramatic.

I haven’t read it but some girl said that my fiancé and I were like the couple in the book. I’m pretty sure that was an insult but she said it wasn’t.

Colleen

I wouldn’t take that as a compliment either. That is not a healthy relationship.

1
Letticia

@Colleen I knew it! She liked to say off hand things. We have a strong supportive relationship but I think she had a crush on my fiancé.

Kelly

Definitely not a compliment. ?

@Kelly Yeah she’s an ass

TBH, I preferred the movie over the book. The book did not move fast enough and I did not finish it.

Same here, I usually don’t watch the movie until I’ve read the book. But after several attempts to get through the book I caved and watched the movie.

I figured out the “twist” pretty early and found all the characters to be pretty annoying. There are better suspense novels.
