I guess you could read Isaac’s Storm or Their Eyes Were Watching God. If you are looking for a distraction rather than more than you ever wanted to know about hurricanes, what kinds of books do you love?

I loved everything Pat Conroy wrote, also Larry McMurtry’s early stuff, I enjoy some of Grisham’s books, Fannie Flagg’s books are entertaining, etc.

Patricia

I love Conroy also. You might like Anne Rivers Siddons. I especially liked her novel, The Outer Banks. Other authors I thought of include Maeve Binchy, early Barbara Kingsolver and Dorothea Frank Benton.

Hope all goes well.

@Vicki will do! Matt and Sarah were really happy that it didn’t take long to get y’all’s previous house boarded up!?

0
Vicki

@Cindy – I thought of them and all the boards in the attic. Hang in there – it’s scary watching it all on national news.

You probably should NOT read “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston

Wonderful book! I agree that I would not want to read a book in which an extremely damaging hurricane occurs while riding out a hurricane myself. But Cindy could be specifically requesting that!

3
CindyQuestion author

@Elizabeth well now I’m totally intrigued!?

1
Elizabeth

Let us know if you end up reading it!

1
CindyQuestion author

@Elizabeth I will!?

1
Maudia

Haha I thought of that one too!

1
Patricia

It is such a good novel. If you are into audiobooks, the version read by Ruby Dee is outstanding. However, if reading and living through a hurricane at the same time does not appeal, save it for later.
