Check on amazon or Goodreads and it tells you the order

Hi @Christina and @Sarah. You simply MUST read them -they are superb. I read my first one some years ago, and ended up taking them as my Specialist Subject on Mastermind. As a result, I have got to know Peter, and can tell you that he is the loveliest man you could hope to meet – and his gorgeous wife Lara is really special too!

Trust me – read one, and you will be hooked! Here is a link to Peter’s website, showing the books in order – they do “stand alone”, but reading in sequence certainly helps in following some of the “back stories”. Enjoy!

I highly recommend them. I believe his 13th novel on Roy Grace is due out this Spring. Peter James does a brilliant job in research which make his novels so much more engaging. Each page comes alive with descriptive. Love all his work

Highly recommended, but warn friends and family before you start. There’s the danger of addiction and being oblivious to the outside world. They might be thinking you’re missing.

I am a recent reader of all the Roy Grace books and highly recommend them and agree with previous comments that it is certainly best to start at book 1… the characters in the main grow with each book as does the secondary storyline. Have fun and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Tracey

I have read them all. I live in Brighton. They include a little repetition in case you don’t read them in order. They are good but as the series goes on there is less realism to grace and his life. Also they become more psychological thrillers from the perspective of the perpetrator and more and more dark. Just a warning.

I just read Perfect People, which is by Peter James but not part of that series. The writing is nothing to write home about, but the plot was interesting and different and quite thought-provoking.

2

Debbie

I kept thinking of the Midwich Cuckoos. Did you?

0
Bonnie

Debbie Clarke, I read that book also. It was very thought provoking. As for the writing, I really never took notice. The storyline was clever so any form of writing fell by the wayside. ?

1
Tracey

I also read this and have John Wyndhams midwhich cukoos is one of my favourite books. Different enough to keep me interested.

1
Debbie

Thanks Tracey, Bonnie, David. Oh yes, different enough, but definitely reminded me of TMC. Interesting that his writing improved as he wrote the Roy Grace books – I must investigate. His writing was okay – not bad so it bothered me, but just not as good as some.

1
Tracey

He’s no robert Goddard.

1
Tracey

Shocked ?

0
Debbie

I must investigate Goddard – I haven’t read any. Are they contemporary, and would you recommend which one to start with, @Tracey?

0
Debbie

No need to be sorry 🙂

1
Tracey

Debbie Clarke hi. They are pretty much all mysteries rather than crime fiction. But almost all are completely different from each other. My favourites are caught in the light, in pale battalions and closed circle.

1
Tracey

No need to be sorry. This is a great discussion.

1
Debbie

Thank you, @Tracey 🙂 I will put Caught in the Light in my Amazon basket! X

1
Debbie

What era are they set in, or all varied? I’ve been looking at them on Amazon and yet to find something definitive.

0
Tracey

all different – some historic some contemporary – all different – one or two 2 parters or 3 parters – otherwise all stand alone.

1
Debbie

Thank you 🙂 Are any of the ones you mention contemporary? I’m more of a fan of contemporary.

0
Tracey

yes

1
Debbie

Great – thank you 🙂 x
