I’m looking for recommendations for what some people might call Chick Lit.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for what some people might call Chick Lit. I read a lot so have read most of the well known authors and would appreciate any recs for less well known books. Anything light about family, friends, romance…that kind of thing. Thank you!!!

Fiona Gibson smarter than average but still light and funny. While I wouldn’t define it as chick lit, The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright is on the subject of relationships and an affair. Very well written with dark humour and an interesting timeline structure. Maria Semple’s novels have had good write ups too.

I find Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel to fall mostly in the Chick Lit genre…. Debbie Macomber, too.

You also might want to check out the “cozy mystery” genre – many of those may be similar to Chick Lit style/genre books.

Sophie Kinsella is my favourite chicklit author, I think her books are hilarious, especially Undomestic Goddess which is my favourite. Also Meg Cabot’s books are very funny, especially The Boy Next Door, which is told entirely in emails and is hilarious, and Every Boy’s Got One, which is told in emails and texts and is also very funny.

I just read I Heart New York and liked it. It’s very chick lit and a little predictable but a fun easy read.

I would suggest anything by Fannie Flagg. She writes about friendships….family and small town life. One of her best is Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe.
