A Court of Thorn and Roses series by Sara J Maas…just finished the third and canNOT wait for the next one. Highly recommend. It’s in YA, but it’s more “adult” than you would think from that designation.

If you like those three things, you would love Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series. The first book is a little rough to get through, but after that I really enjoyed them (be warned tho, the cover art is kinda corny ?)

There’s a 4th book?

1
Stacie

Yes, the Rubber Magician, comes after the Master Magician. Saw it online.

0
Stacie

Oops, not Rubber, Plastic Magician, lol. Also, I spelled the author’s name incorrectly. Should be Holmberg. Maybe your library does have her? If you do the Kindle, the books are pretty cheap there. I got the first 3 for 1.99 each. Not sure if that’s the everyday price?

Jenn

For some reason our children’s librarian at work doesn’t have the series in our collection so I completely missed it! It’s 4.99 on Kindle right now

I never tire of recommending The Raven Boys Books by Maggie Stiefvater. It has magic, believably awkward teenagers with incredible dialogue, and it’s YA but also deals with things pretty maturely. And, magic wise, IT GETS WILD, and very different from every other YA series I’ve read.

Also, I don’t know why this is not a classic rec, but Howl’s Castle is amazing, and actually part of a series of books, so if you haven’t read it, it’s a lot of fun!

I read Howl’s Moving Castle this year…it was good!

The Steerswoman series — traveling librarian-adventurer in a fantasy/sci-fi world. Might be hard to find, but your library should be able to ILL it, and it’s so worth it. ?

I need say Black Dagger Brotherhood-serie and also Black Dagger Legacy. It was first book series which I read in english. Also other books for J.R.Ward are quite good. If you read m/m romance, I must say Beautiful Monsters-series by Jex Lane.

If you like young adult thriller, I must recommend Snow White Trilogy (As Red as Blood, As White as Snow and As Black as Ebony) by Salla Simukka. It’s quite popular trilogy from Finland and the place where this book trilogy located is city where I spend most of my childhood. It is quite interesting trilogy.

Ok, this is pretty obscure…but I highly recommend The Meq, Time Dancers, and The Remembering by Steve Cash. It’s about magical Basque children (but, oh so much more!) and it was a really unique series. Definitely check it out. Although, fair warning… people either love it or hate it. I loved it. It’s one that stayed with me after putting it down.
