An older group of stories (19teens through 1930’s) by author Joseph C. Lincoln. Stories from before the Cape was spoiled by the tourist industry.
All the Elin Hilderbrand books take place on Nantucket.
I think there’s an old Mary Higgins Clark mystery that takes place there.
If you’re willing to do Nantucket instead, most of Elin Hilderbrand’s books take place there.
Love to read her during the summer.
Remember Me by MHC! I read it when we were staying on the Cape. The book is 24 years old, but she mentions places in the Chatham area that are still there.
OHHH! Not a novel but…. “Outermost House” by Henry Beston, wonderful book.

There are a ton of Cape Cod beach reads!
Most of Nancy Thayer books are on the Cape and are very vivid. Great reads as well.
The Storied Life of AJ Fichery takes place on a fictional island that’s TOTALLY Martha’s Vibeyard
The Widow’s War, if you’re into historical fiction.
Anita Shreve. She has great books, one of my fav’s is Fortunes Rocks.

I read JAWS while visiting the Cape.. that was a great read – but I wouldn’t even go into the hotel swimming pool after that!

I just read an interesting one called Shadow Walkers by Russ Chenoweth. It’s about a family of rats. It was short, but enjoyable.
